System Description
Motion Message Inc., a leading U.S. manufacturer of LED electronic displays, has designed and manufactured the MM8X40/U1 for the T.R.I.P.S. application as specified by the United States Postal Service. The MM8X40/U1 is an electronic text panel with 8 lines, each capable of displaying 40 characters of 2.8-inch tall text. As designated by the U.S.P.S., the eighth (bottom) line is able to display horizontal moving messages.
The T.R.I.P.S. system has been developed by the U.S.P.S. to support and enhance incoming and out going dispatches. The system may also be utilized for employee communications and safety messages. The system displays TIMESWEB data in many formats.
The Motion Message T.R.I.P.S. displays have been engineered to network (LAN Ethernet) interface and are fully ACE compliant. The TIMESWEB data is sent from U.S. Postal source in St. Louis.
The
displays can receive message data either individually or simultaneously.
The distance from the network interface (LAN Ethernet), may be up to 4000
feet. Data communication is standard RS422/485 over 22 gauge twisted pair.
Connection to the sign is made via RJ11 modular phone jack.
Motion Message was awarded the prototype of the T.R.I.P.S. system in Washington in 1995, and has been awarded every T.R.I.P.S. contract since. When you purchase a Motion Message T.R.I.P.S. display, you are buying the only T.R.I.P.S. display that is in use by the U.S.P.S. across the country, and the only one ACE compliant and designed specifically for use by the U.S.P.S..
